Last week I celebrated my 52nd Birthday, I wish I could tell you that I went out and did something great on my actual birthday but the truth is I was so tired I didn’t do anything. My husband wanted us to all go out to dinner but I just couldn’t do it I was too tired! Instead, my grown children 18 and 31 got in our bed and we just laughed and talked while I shopped online with my birthday loot. (We did go out to celebrate officially after church last Sunday)
The things I got are so beautiful I have only tried 3 of the items and so far and I love them. The blushes on the left are from Juvia’s Place https://www.juviasplace.com in the shades Bella and Serafina $8. The eyeshadow palette The Warrior By Juvia’s $20, is stunning, it swatches beautifully I can not wait to try them all. Juvia’s products are now in Ulta stores which is huge, they are the only Black-owned Makeup Brand in Ulta. The products on the right are from Iman Cosmetics https://imancosmetics.com Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder in the shade After Glow I love that you can use the shades separately or swirl your brush and use them together for a nice glowy blush/bronzer. Luxury Contour Trio next to the Bronzer is so pretty although I am not much into Contouring both of these palettes were on clearance at Target for $7.48. The pigmentation is beautiful I used the contour palette as eyeshadow and loved the look I was able to create. Also pictured below the two palettes is an Iman Cosmetics stick foundation in the shade Clay 3 $16. I was pleasantly surprised by this foundation (review coming) spoiler alert I really like it.
Finally, the beautiful black and gold packaging (in front of the blushes) is a lipstick by Pat McGrath https://www.sephora.com/product/mattetrance-lipstick-P421813?icid2=products%20grid:p421813:product in the shade Guinevere $38 which is described as a Blooded Crimson. I know there are two things that need to be addressed first, me purchasing a red lipstick it wasn’t my first choice but the shade I wanted was sold out but this red is different from all the other 20 red shades I have given away lol. The shade has lots of brown in it which makes it wearable at least for me. Okay and the other thing we need to address is the price, $38 for a lipstick, I know, I know BUT… Pat McGrath is known for luxury makeup and I wanted to try it to see if it lives up to the hype. If I had to base it on packaging alone I would say yes it is worth the splurge. I have been wearing the lipstick since I ripped into the Sephora box a few short hours ago so far I love it. By the way, I did purchase the lipstick during the Sephora VIB appreciation sale which was 20% so I only spent $30 lol.
This is not a formal review of any of these products I just wanted to share my little haul. I plan to add a page of my favorite black-owned brands to my site to make it easier to access all the brands I have tried and even the ones on my list to try. I will do an update on this haul to share how all of the products worked for me. Stay Tuned!
