Michael and I are just getting back from our Anniversary get away that was simply wonderful! We have a few more days until Aaron gets back from camp and we are enjoying our kid free oasis. Sadly this is one of the only times I get to catch up on my reading including my favorite magazines. I am sure you are familiar with one of the magazines but the other two maybe new to you.
Darling Magazine is one of my favorites it is very different compared to mainstream magazines; their mission says it all.
Darling is the art of being a woman. Darling Magazine holds the modern mold of woman up to the fire to evoke a discussion on femininity and re-shape an authentic design. Darling is a catalyst for positive change leading women to discover beauty apart from vanity, influence apart from manipulation, style apart from materialism, sweetness apart from passivity, and womanhood without degradation.
Darling leads women to practice the arts of virtue, wit, modesty and wisdom-all the while creating beauty and embodying love. Darlings says women are not only interesting, but original, not only good enough, but exceptional-not just here, but here for a purpose. (I love this)
The articles are thought provoking and have depth; none of the women in the pictures have been re-touched, many of them have real average woman bodies, not even the advertising (which is very minimal) is re-touched. The magazine is beautiful, the paper is very heavy and the pages are matte; the women featured represent all women; every issue has not just blonde haired blue eyed women, but women of color African American, Latina, Asian a broad spectrum of women are splashed throughout each issue. Darling is not a mainstream magazine; it only comes out quarterly, a yearly subscription is $60; expensive I know but so worth it in my opinion.
Willow and Sage is for the beauty handmade business owner or the DIY enthusiast like me! There are articles featuring handmade business owners sharing their journey in the handmade beauty industry, countless recipes, packaging ideas, gift ideas, etc. Willow and Sage is my go to for inspiration to make soaps and other handmade products. Willow and Sage is beautiful photographs of handmade products seem to jump off the pages. Willow and Sage like Darling is only available quarterly and is also very pricey $60 for a yearly subscription.
Real Simple Magazine I love it for its practicality! What drew me to this magazine many years ago were the Green Spring Cleaning and Organizing Issues (I know super exciting). Real Simple Magazine has great recipes every month, meal planning, fashion and makeup for real women! I read it from cover to cover there is always helpful information I can use. Real Simple is a monthly subscription that’s under $40 for 12 issues.
What are you favorite magazines and why? Have you ever read digital version of your favorite magazine? Do you keep your old magazines or do you get rid of them once you’ve read them?
